  My Grandmother bought a Pre-Paid funeral plan from Southside Funeral Home in the 1980's. When she passed away recently they would not honor the Pre-Paid Plan. My Grandmother and our family did check with them more than once. The last time was about 5 years ago for Medicaid purposes and they reassured us that the plan would take care of the funeral arrangements. After my Grandmother passed away January 2016 we had Southside Funeral Home pick her body up from the Hospital assuming all would be taken care of. After she was there we were informed that they would not honor the Pre-Paid funeral plan and that we could not have her body until we paid for their services to pick her up and keep her (which is illegal by the way). My Grandmother always told us that we didn't have to worry about her funeral and she was reassured on more than one occasion that that would be the case by Southside Funeral Home. Now our grieving family is having to ask for donations and borrow money to honor my Grandmother's wishes for a proper burial. This is a disgrace. I really don't know how the Owner of this Funeral Home sleeps at night.
